TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GET YOUR SHARE™ PROMOTION III (NEW MEMBERS) AND GET YOUR SHARE™ PROMOTION (REFERRING MEMBERS) – VERSION DATE: March 15, 2017
These Terms and Conditions govern the Get Your Share™ Promotion III (New Members) (the “New Member Promotion”) and Get Your Share™ Promotion (Referring Members) (the “Referring Member Promotion”). New Member Promotion and Referring Member Promotion collectively referred to as the “Promotions”. The Promotions are conducted by Central 1 Credit Union (“Central 1”) with offices at 1441 Creekside Drive, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, V6J 4S7.
By participating in a Promotion, you acknowledge and signify that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, you may not participate in either Promotion.
The New Member Promotion will run from 12:00:01 a.m. (Pacific Time) on Feb 29, 2015 to the earlier of: (a) 11:59:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on June 30, 2017; or (b) when the next version of the campaign is ready to launch (the “New Member Promotion Period”).
The Referring Member Promotion will run from 12:00:01 a.m. (Pacific Time) on September 30, 2015 to the earlier of: (a) 11:59:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on June 30, 2017; or (b) when the next version of the campaign is ready to launch (the “Referring Promotion Period”).
New Member Promotion
“New Members” are individuals who open an account with a credit union in British Columbia during the New Member Promotion Period and who: (i) have not been a member of a credit union in British Columbia within the previous 3 years, (ii) have not previously participated in the New Member Promotion or any other Get Your Share™ promotion since April 4, 2013, and (iii) wish to participate in the New Member Promotion
The following are the potential bonuses under the New Member Promotion:
- $200 bonus – to be eligible for this $200 bonus, the New Member must become a member of, and open a new account with, a credit union in British Columbia during the New Member Promotion Period and set up a recurring, pre-authorized credit or debit transaction from that account within 12 weeks of opening the new account.; OR
- $200 bonus – to be eligible for this $200 bonus, the New Member must, during the New Member Promotion Period, become a member of a credit union in British Columbia and: (i) open a new business chequing account with that credit union; or (ii) transfer a business chequing account to that credit union from another financial institution (other than a credit union in British Columbia).
New Members may receive one, and only one, of the above bonuses.
To be eligible to participate in the New Member Promotion, you must, at the time you participate in the New Member Promotion:
(a) be a resident of British Columbia;
(b) be at least 17 years of age;
(c) be a “New Member” as defined above; and
(d) not be an employee of a B.C. credit union or its subsidiaries. For the purposes of this New Member Promotion, a “Subsidiary” means a wholly owned subsidiary of a credit union in British Columbia.
If you are eligible to participate in the New Member Promotion, to participate follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit www.getyourshare.ca (the “Promotion Page”) and:
(a) choose a credit union branch in British Columbia that you wish to become a member of and open an account with (the “Selected Credit Union”); and
(b) complete the online form by submitting your name, birthdate, phone number and email address and preferred contact method. This information is shared with the Selected Credit Union.
Step 2: After you have completed Step 1:
You will receive an email confirmation and you will be contacted by a representative from the Selected Credit Union to schedule a time to open a membership and account.
Step 3: Within fourteen (14) days from completing Step 1, you must attend your scheduled appointment at the Selected Credit Union to open a credit union membership and account.
If you cannot visit the Selected Credit Union, or open a credit union membership and account within fourteen (14) days from completing Step 1, you must send an email within fourteen (14) days from completing Step 1 to firstname.lastname@example.org to request for an extension of time to visit the Selected Credit Union and open a credit union membership and account.
Step 4: Once you have opened a credit union membership and account and:
(a) your first recurring, pre-authorized debit or credit transaction has occurred within 12 weeks of opening your new account, Central 1 will deposit $200 into your new account via electronic funds transfer; OR
(b) you have successfully opened or transferred your business chequing account to the Selected Credit Union, Central 1 will deposit $200 into your new account via electronic funds transfer.
The electronic funds transfer may take up to 10 business days to process.
Referring Member Promotion
“Referring Members” are members of a British Columbia credit union who: (a) have an account with a credit union in British Columbia; (b) have referred a person to a credit union in British Columbia during the Referral Promotion Period; and (c) wish to participate in the Referring Member Promotion. (Referring Members individually is a “Referring Member”); and
“Referred Member” is the referred person as described in clause (b) in the definition of “Referring Members” who becomes a New Member.
The following is the potential bonus under the Referring Member Promotion:
- $25 bonus for every Referred Member – eligibility and completion of Steps 1 to 4 under the New Member Promotion during the Referral Promotion Period by the Referred Member is required for the Referring Member to receive the $25 bonus.
The maximum bonus for a Referring Member is $2500 under the Referring Member Promotion.
To be eligible to participate in the Referring Member Promotion as a Referring Member, you must, at the time you participate in the Promotion:(a) be a resident of British Columbia;
(b) be at least 17 years of age; and
(c) be a member of a credit union in British Columbia.
Once you are eligible to participate in the Referring Member Promotion, as a Referring Member, to participate:
Step 1: Visit getyourshare.ca/referral ("Referral Page") and:
(a) fill out the contact form; and
(b) select the credit union and branch that you belong to (if you have not previously registered in the system)
Step 2: After you have completed Step 1:
You will receive a referral link to a promotion page (the “Referral Link”) and you may share the link with your close friends and family. You may not share your Referral Link in a manner that violates applicable laws, or the terms and conditions applicable to the platform by which you choose to share your Referral Link. You must ensure that all individuals with whom you share your Referral Link are advised of the fact that you may be compensated if they choose to open an account with a credit union in British Columbia.
Step 3: You will receive a $25 bonus for each individual referred by you, up to a maximum of $2500, who, before two weeks after the end of the Referring Promotion Period, uses your Referral Link, opens an account at a British Columbia credit union, and fulfills the New Member Promotion requirements.
All other promotions advertised on this website are not conducted by Central 1. Central 1 has no liability to any individual(s) who participate in any other promotion advertised on this website, even if it is associated with any or both of the Promotions. Any other promotions advertised on the website is the responsibility of the third party offering such promotion.
Promotions – Privacy
The Promotions are subject to all applicable laws and regulations, and are void where prohibited by law. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable, all other provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms and Conditions are governed solely by the laws of British Columbia, Canada and applicable federal laws of Canada, excluding any rules of private international law or the conflict of laws that would lead to the application of any other laws.
Any dispute between Central 1 and you or any other person arising from, connected with or relating to either of the Promotions, participation in either of the Promotions, the use or misuse of personal information provided in connection with either of the Promotions, or any related matters (“Disputes”) must be resolved before the Courts of British Columbia sitting in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and you hereby irrevocably submit and attorn to the original and exclusive jurisdiction of those courts in respect of all Disputes. Proceedings regarding a Dispute must be commenced within one (1) year after the Dispute arose, after which time any and all proceedings regarding the Dispute are barred.
Central 1 is not responsible or liable for: (a) erroneous, lost, late, incomplete or misdirected entries to the New Member Promotion or Referring Member Promotion; (b) any damage or loss arising from, connected with, or relating to the New Member Promotion or Referring Member Promotion, regardless of the cause or any fault by Central 1 or any person for whom Central 1 is responsible, and notwithstanding that any of those persons may have been advised of the possibility of the loss or damage being incurred.
You must comply with all applicable laws (including laws relating to privacy, protection of personal information and unsolicited commercial communications) and community standards, and must not infringe or violate the rights (including privacy and publicity rights) of any person.
If for any reason Central 1 determines, in its discretion, that either of the Promotions is not capable of being conducted as intended by Central 1, Central 1 may in its discretion withdraw, cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend all or any part of the New Member Promotion or Referring Member Promotion, as the case may be.
To the fullest extent permissible by applicable law, by participating in either of the Promotions, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Central 1 against all and any Claims arising out of or in connection with any breach by you of these Terms and Conditions or your participation in the New Member Promotion or Referring Member Promotion, as the case may be.
Central 1 is not obligated to respond to any correspondence regarding either of the Promotions from any person, but Central 1 may in its discretion respond to questions and queries by email at email@example.com.
Central 1 may, in its discretion, change, supplement or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time by posting amended Terms and Conditions on the Promotion Page and Referral Page. For example, Central 1 may in its discretion extend the New Member Promotion Period or Referral Promotion Period by posting a notice of extension on the Promotion Page.
Decisions of Central 1 regarding any and all aspects of the Promotions are final and binding on all New Members and Referring Members, as the case may be.
Protecting your privacy is important to Central 1. This Online Privacy Statement (the “Privacy Statement”) explains how Central 1 collects, uses and discloses the personal and non-personal information you may provide, or that we may collect, while using Central 1’s Get Your Share website at www.getyourshare.ca (the “Website”) and participating in a Get Your Share Promotion (each a “Promotion”).
By using the Website or participating in a Promotion, or by submitting your personal information to Central 1 or to the Website, you signify your consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Statement. If you do not consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Statement, you may not use the Website or participate in a Promotion, or submit your personal information to Central 1 or the Website. Note that certain services can only be offered to you if you provide personal information to Central 1 and therefore Central 1 may not be able to provide you those services if you choose not to provide Central 1 with personal information.
2. Information Automatically Collected
The Website automatically collects certain non-personal information regarding Website users (such as the date and time you access the Website, the Internet Protocol address of your computer or device you are using, the website from which you linked directly to the Website, the browser you are using, and the Website pages read and the content accessed or downloaded). This non-personal information is used for system administration purposes such as analyzing trends, administering our website, tracking user movements, and gathering demographic information for internal use such as statistical assessments, website improvement and improving user experience. Non-personal information may be disclosed to other persons and permanently archived for future use. If non-personal information is combined with personal information, then the non-personal information will be treated as personal information.

3. Personal Information You Provide
Personal Information: In this Privacy Statement, “personal information” is information about an identifiable individual, such as your name, address and email address. To the extent permitted by law, the provisions of this Privacy Statement concerning “personal information” do not apply to information that enables you to be contacted at a place of business (such as your business telephone number, and business email address).
Use of Your Personal Information: During your use of the Website, you may be asked to voluntarily provide personal information as necessary to administer the Promotion, or other purposes specified at the time of collection. Personal information we collect to use for these purposes includes your name, telephone number, email address and date of birth. In order to administer the Promotion and provide any benefits to which you may be entitled under the Promotion, we may also collect information from your credit union, including information about your membership and accounts. Central 1 will not use your personal information for purposes other than those for which it is collected, except with your consent or as permitted or required by applicable law. Additionally, Central 1 may keep a record of all communications with you.
Disclosure of Your Information: Central 1 will share your personal information with the credit union that you selected when entering the Promotion, in order to administer the Promotion and provide any bonus that you are eligible for. Central 1 may disclose your personal information as required or permitted by applicable law, or to its agents, suppliers and service providers for use in connection with matters relating to your use of the Website, Central 1’s administration of the Promotion, or otherwise as specified by Central 1 at the time of collection. Central 1 may also disclose your personal information to other persons at your request, with your consent, or in connection with an investigation or proceeding to investigate or protect you and other persons and Central 1 from error, risk, fraud or criminal activity. Central 1 will not sell or rent your personal information to any third party. Central 1 has no control over, and no responsibility or liability for, those persons’ use and disclosure of your personal information, and that use and disclosure is not subject to this Privacy Statement.
Depersonalized Information: Central 1 may use your personal information to create non-personal information regarding the use of the Website and the Promotions. We may use and share this aggregate data to better understand our overall user base and for other purposes in our sole discretion. Central 1 may permanently retain non-personal information for future use.
Withdrawing Consent: You may withdraw your consent to the use and disclosure of your personal information, but doing so may mean that you cannot participate in, or receive any bonuses in connection with, a Promotion. To withdraw consent, please contact Central 1’s Privacy Officer.
Retention of Your Information: Central 1 retains your personal information for as long as required to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as may be required by law. When no longer required, your personal information will be destroyed, anonymized or disposed of using secure methods.
Location of Information: Central 1 will store and process your personal information in secured locations. The personal information is stored and processed in Canada. However, the disclosure of your information in accordance with this Privacy Statement and applicable law may result in your personal information being transferred outside of Canada, including to the United States. The laws of other countries regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information may be different from the laws of Canada. Your use of the Website indicates your consent to your personal information being transferred outside of Canada and subject to the laws of these other jurisdictions.
Safeguarding Your Information: Central 1 has reasonable security safeguards to protect personal information against loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying or modification. 4. Access, Corrections, and Complaints
Accessing or Correcting Your Personal Information: You may request access to your personal information and information about Central 1’s collection, use and disclosure of that information by sending your request to Central 1’s Privacy Officer. Subject to certain exceptions and limitations prescribed by applicable law, you will be given reasonable access to your personal information, and will be entitled to request changes to the personal information we have about you to ensure accuracy and completeness of the information. You can help Central 1 maintain the accuracy of your information by notifying Central 1 of any changes.
